What happens when humans become dependent on AI to think, decide, and act?

AI is changing how people work and make decisions. It can complete tasks, create content, and manage complex workflows. However, excessive dependence on AI can weaken human judgment and accountability.

In this episode of Open Tech Talks, host Kashif Manzoor speaks with Daniel C. Rodgers, a former technology leader at Microsoft and Google, author, and financial educator.

Daniel shares his experience working at Microsoft for 12 years and Google for four years. He explains how AI has evolved from a specialist technology into a tool that individuals can use to perform work that once required entire teams.

The conversation explores a growing concern: people are moving from using AI to complete tasks to asking AI to make decisions for them.

Daniel also discusses the risks of agentic AI, artificial general intelligence (AGI), and superintelligence. He explains why human oversight, clear permissions, and accountability must remain central to AI adoption.

The discussion also covers his book, Kill Switch, which explores a future in which humanity must decide whether to retain or shut down a powerful AI system.
