This Week in AI: Insights from Recent AI Event!

AI Tech Circle

Hey Reader!

This week was so busy attending Oracle’s CloudWorld tour Dubai on 23rd Jan at DWTC, Dubai, UAE. The event was unique; I met many colleagues, friends, and customers. It has also enabled me to get insight and knowledge.

The most exciting news was that Oracle had released the Generally available Generative AI (Large Language models) as managed services covering two different models.

Pre-trained foundational models are available with the click of a button:

  • Cohere.command & cohere.command-light
  • cohere.embed-english-v3.0 & cohere.embed-multilingual-v3.0
  • meta.llama-2-70b-chat

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Generative AI is a fully managed service that provides customizable large language models (LLMs) that cover many use cases.

  1. Text Generation
  2. Summarization
  3. Embedding

1 – Text Generation: A few examples

  • Develop compelling pitches for new products.
  • Craft engaging slogans for marketing initiatives.
  • Write persuasive sales emails for clients.
  • Generate creative social media content.
  • Compose detailed job descriptions.
  • Create attention-grabbing article titles.

2 – Summarization

Efficient Summarization Services:

  • Create concise executive summaries for lengthy documents.
  • Offer summarization for various text formats, including:

    • Documents and contracts
    • Emails
    • News articles
    • Blog entries
    • Product evaluations
    • Social media content
  • Categorize text into specific, pre-set groups. For instance:

    • Sort support tickets by assigning them to the appropriate department.
    • Organize companies into their relevant industry sectors based on a list of sectors and company names.

3 – Embedding

Applications for Text Embeddings:

  • Semantic Search: Enhance search capabilities across call transcripts and internal knowledge bases.
  • Text Classification: Apply text embeddings to categorize customer intentions in chat logs and support tickets.
  • Text Clustering: Discover key themes in customer feedback or new datasets.
  • Recommendation Systems: Use numerical representations of podcast descriptions to improve the accuracy of recommendation models.

Another exciting announcement is the release of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure’s Generative AI Agents, which blends the capabilities of large language models (LLMs) and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) with enterprise data. This allows users to search various enterprise knowledge bases using natural language queries. They can easily access current information and immediately utilize it for their needs.
